The Best Wallpaper
Your search for the perfect wallpaper ends here with John’s Background Switcher. It allows you to periodically change your wallpaper from sources such as your picture folders, or pull it in from web services such as Flickr, and Facebook. What’s more, it can even add fancy effects such as Mosaic and Scrapbook, and it’s completely free. Here’s how to set it up.

First, download the application and run through the default installation.

Once installation process finishes, you should see this icon in your taskbar. “Right-click” on it and go to “Settings”. Just note if the icon is in green, it’s running and you wouldn’t be able to access the context menu. Just wait for it to grey out.
Below are a series of screenshots showing the setup of pulling photos from your flickr account.

The full list of services available.

We will go to the flickr tab and click on “Add”.

You will then get to choose which photos stream to pull from flickr.

I chose to pull “500” photos with the flickr username “LKY”

All set. Click on “OK”.

Final setup requires you to select how the pictures will be displayed. Many options available, but I find the “snapshot scrapbook” the best. Click “OK”.

You should see the icon animating now. It’s working to produce the desired wallpaper. In around a minute or two, your desktop will go
From This……

To This!

That’s it!. Play around with the various settings. They’re pretty straight forward and it won’t do your system any harm. Another pointer I have to add, in order to show the scrapbook without the file title, you have to go to “More Settings” > under “Snapshot Scrapbook” > “Display” and select the picture without the title. Check the screenshot below:

Hi John,
I should THANK YOU for releasing this great app free of charge. My wife especially love it, and it has earned a place on every desktop I work on.
