Well, whats the fuss about? I am not going to lie and say that everyone I know uses google calendar. However, if you happen to have a gmail account, why not go over and try out the calendar feature?

Once you have taken the first step, you are on your way to keeping your life in sync, and never miss another appointment. So here we go……

1. Configure your Google Calendar

Proceed to 2.

2. Gcal on desktop through Thunderbird via Lightning Extension

Were you expecting something? Well, I thought of doing a step by step guide too, but I found this great in depth tutorial here. I couldn’t have done it any better, so check it out to complete the first 2 steps.

3. Sync with your “Smart” phone

Here is the beautiful part. Where will you most often add / retrieve your schedule? Its not in front of your work desk, but through your mobile. To make your phone really smart, head over to GooSync and sign up for a free account.

Once you have signed up with GooSync, choose your device and follow through the procedure. Basically for Symbian models, the sync is done through the phone’s built in sync apps. As such, the config is simply through the sms sent to your phone. After which the initialization of the sync is through the sync app.

For Windows Mobile, you most probably have to download an installer and the sync will be initialize through the installed application.

All that I have said doesn’t really matter if you just follow the GooSync site instructions. So that’s it, with this setup what it means simply is you have 1 / ONE calendar spread over 3 platforms, the web, desktop, and your mobile. So let’s say you add a new appointment to your mobile phone calendar, another from Thunderbird, just run the sync on your mobile and all 3 platform will display the same schedule!
